The shortlist.
The shortlist is a secondary layer within the links system. When you encounter a link in your main list that you're ready to commit to engaging with soon, move it to the shortlist.
The shortlist is meant to be short â ideally three to seven items at any given time. Its purpose is to make the transition from "saved" to "actually engaged with" more intentional. Whether you're going to read or listen, the shortlist tells you where to start.
Working with the links system.
Save a link
Add a URL to your list. Habitus will attempt to fetch the page title automatically.
Generate audio
Use Text-to-Speech to generate an audio version of the article. Listen during your commute, walk, or workout â no screen required.
Curate and search
Review your list periodically. Remove what's no longer relevant, move committed items to the shortlist. Press Cmd/Ctrl + K to search by title or keyword.
Mark as read
When you've read or listened to a link, mark it as read. It moves out of your active list but remains in your history.
Getting the most from links.
- Use Text-to-Speech for long articles you'd otherwise defer indefinitely. Mobile listening during movement makes long-form content finally accessible.
- Save freely, curate deliberately. The goal is not to save only perfect links â it's to remove links that no longer deserve your attention when you review.
- Keep the shortlist short. If everything is on the shortlist, nothing is. Aim for a number you could realistically clear in a week.
- Use the search shortcut (Cmd/Ctrl + K) instead of scrolling when you know what you're looking for.
