Habits

A focused view of the few behaviors that matter most. No scores, no streaks, no noise — just your practice.

Overview

Practice without pressure.

The habits view is the center of Habitus. It shows only your active habits — not a dashboard, not analytics, not a congratulatory score. Just the behaviors you've decided matter, ready to be completed.

Habits don't have streaks you can break. Missing a day doesn't punish you. Coming back after a week away feels the same as coming back after a night away. The system holds your practice without judgment.

Usage

How to use the habits system.

1

Add a habit

Start with one or two behaviors that genuinely matter to you. Enter edit mode to add a new habit with a name and any relevant notes.

2

Complete it daily

Tap once to mark a habit complete. On mobile, long-press to add a completion note or adjust the completion time. That's the entire workflow.

3

Review history

Switch from card view to history view to see completion patterns over time. No graphs — just a calendar-style record of your practice.

4

Reorder by priority

Use edit mode to drag habits into priority order. The highest-leverage behaviors belong at the top, where you see them first.

Tips

Getting the most from habits.

  • Keep your habit list short. Five or fewer habits is usually better than ten. The list should represent what you're actually committed to practicing.
  • Completion notes are underused. A short note on a particularly difficult completion or a particularly good one builds a richer record than checkmarks alone.
  • If you miss a habit, don't delete it — just come back. The absence of a completion is already recorded in history. Adding a note about why can be valuable on its own.
  • Review your habit list every few weeks. If you haven't completed something in a long time, it may not belong in the system. Remove it without guilt.
